Northwest Indian Sunmask, represents warmth and light to counterbalance the chill and darkness of violent death.

With over a decade of national consultations and trainings, we have developed a national registry of service providers with expertise in supporting family members after violent death. Most of the individuals on our referral list work in community-supported agencies and can provide service at no cost or on a sliding scale.
The referral registry is not an open document. Each request will be individually contacted before direct referral.

Dr. Rynearson and staff at Separation and Loss Services have extensive experience in consulting with clinicians and community agencies. We have maintained monthly contact with many site trainees after attending the Seattle training for clinical and administrative support. Most of the clinical questions involve the group agendas or difficult clients, and administrative questions largely deal with guidance in securing grant funding.
Since 1998, Dr. Rynearson has visited each site before and after the training to offer on-site support and training. Of the 19 site visits, 14 included a formal one-day local training (the audience size ranged from 30 to 150 participants) for site personnel and members of the local community. The training also included a showcasing of the available services of the local site, which engaged other community providers in referring clients. These on-site trainings have provided a network of more than one thousand community service providers who continue to request updated training. Several of the sites (New York, San Diego, San Francisco, Detroit, Hartford, Houston) arranged independent funding for repeat trainings.
Since the September 11th attacks, Dr. Rynearson consults with New York co-leaders of support groups at Safe Horizon via weekly conference calls. An unanticipated advantage of the training site at Safe Horizon in New York City in 1998 was the active presence of trained personnel in all five boroughs to support and provide intervention to family members after violent dying. (With the revision of the ten-session group agenda, there are now five groups running simultaneously for co-victims of the World Trade Center disaster.)
Dr. Rynearson and staff are available for direct consultation, and can provide referral to regional consultants for more immediate and local assistance. |
