Northwest Indian Sunmask, represents warmth and light to counterbalance the chill and darkness of violent death.
Supporting family members after violent death can be isolating and exhausting. One of the most positive results of an intensive training comes from the simple "gathering" of service providers. Attendee evaluations have emphasized the benefit of providing a venue and sufficient time for participants to "commune" with one another about their work. In sharing questions and frustrations with the presenters and one another, a matrix of mutual support, education and cross referral crystallizes between them.

We hope to establish a formal organization to ensure the stability and growth of a professional matrix of mutual support, education and cross referral. An organization of service providers after violent death could initiate some simple measures to structure such a matrix: sponsorship of an annual training conference, sponsorship of a newsletter to highlight innovative programs and resources for grant support, shared development with this internet site in providing updated research, consultation and referral.

In the next two years, we will actively solicit grant support to cover the expenses of setting up such an organization, while exploring the level of service provider interest in joining.

Please let us know if you would be interested in organizational membership and helping in its formation.
